India Energy Week

The India energy week is India’s first comprehensive Energy Event covering the entire value chain in its year of the G20 presidency under the patronage of the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas and a key discussion platform in the G20 calendar born out of the honorable prime minister Modi’s long-standing vision for India’s role in the global energy transition while ensuring India’s energy security affordability and accessibility for her citizens. It had been held from 6th to 8th February in the beautiful city of Bengaluru, Karnataka. Prime Minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi inaugurated the event on 6th February.

The IEW captured India’s dreams and aspirations whilst also underlining her role in the 21st-century global economy as a Vishwa guru following the ideals of Vasudeva Kudumbakam.

IEW 2023 came at a watershed in the global energy landscape and it devised solutions to solve the global energy quadrilemma of energy access affordability and availability with security at its pivot and devised solutions for the future Global energy. Due to the Global challenges to development and sparked uncontrolled inflationary and recessionary fears, the World Bank has estimated that this year Global growth will decelerate to 1.7, the third weakest in nearly three decades.

In the case of India, a nation of 1.4 billion plus has to be insulated against the global price rise so that energy is accessible at affordable cost. India has already pledged to become Net Zero in emissions by 2070 and cut down the emissions by 1 billion tons by the end of 2030. Despite being the home to 17% of the world’s total population and being the fifth largest economy, India’s ranking in per capita emissions is the lowest among the G20 countries and half of the global average. India has carved out an energy agenda that is inclusive market-based and climate-sensitive.
