Apraava Energy Transmission Projects in Rajasthan

Apraava Energy, a pioneering integrated energy solutions provider, has achieved a significant milestone in Rajasthan’s renewable energy journey by securing two crucial interstate transmission projects. These projects are instrumental in facilitating the evacuation of 20 GW of renewable energy generation in Rajasthan to the national grid, marking a substantial leap toward sustainable energy adoption. The projects, developed through tariff-based competitive bidding, will be executed under the innovative BOOT (build, own, operate, and transfer) model, emphasizing Apraava Energy’s commitment to the nation’s renewable energy ambitions.

Energizing Rajasthan’s Green Energy Vision

The awarded projects are integral to the realization of Rajasthan’s Phase 3 renewable energy objectives. With the goal of evacuating 20 GW of power from renewable energy zones in Rajasthan, these transmission initiatives hold immense promise for the state’s clean energy future. Notably, these projects mark Apraava Energy’s maiden foray into greenfield transmission endeavors.

Transmission Triumph: Project Details

Apraava Energy, through its specialized subsidiary entities, is poised to make transformative contributions to Rajasthan’s renewable energy landscape:

  • Fatehgarh III Transmission Limited (SPV): This entity will spearhead the construction of a 230 km 400 kV D/C (double-circuit) transmission line connecting Fatehgarh 3 to Badla 3 in Rajasthan.
  • Fatehgarh IV Transmission Limited (SPV): In this venture, Apraava Energy will erect a 5×500 MVA pooling substation in Fatehgarh 4 and a 22 km 400 kV D/C transmission line between Fatehgarh 4 and Fatehgarh 3.

A Legacy of Commitment and Collaboration

Apraava Energy’s involvement extends beyond construction; it encompasses the entire lifecycle of these projects. The company will oversee ownership, financing, development, design, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, operation, and maintenance for a span of 35 years. After this period, the projects will be transferred to the central transmission utility (CTU). The targeted construction timeline for both projects is 18 months.

Driving Economic Growth and Sustainability

These transmission projects not only signify progress in renewable energy infrastructure but also promise economic opportunities and job creation for the region. Leveraging its rich experience in operating wind farms like Bhakrani (102.4 MW), Tejuva (100.8 MW), and Sipla (50.4 MW) in the Jaisalmer Region, Apraava Energy is poised to set up these greenfield transmission ventures successfully in the state.

Commitment to India’s Energy Transition

Apraava Energy, jointly owned by the CLP Group and Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ), is firmly committed to India’s energy transition. Its portfolio boasts 3,150 MW of installed capacity, including 924 MW of wind and 250 MW of solar energy projects across seven states, alongside four power transmission assets and an advanced metering infrastructure project in Assam. The company’s strategic acquisitions and partnerships underscore its determination to play a pivotal role in India’s renewable energy evolution.

With these groundbreaking transmission projects, Apraava Energy is not only shaping Rajasthan’s clean energy landscape but also contributing significantly to India’s broader sustainability goals. This leap forward reaffirms the transformational power of renewable energy and collaborative efforts in driving positive change.
