The Centre has approved a 2,000-MW solar energy park in Rajasthan with central financial assistance of 30% of the cost, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Prahlad Joshi on said. Addressing a session on Transition Towards a Sustainable Energy Economy at ‘Rising Rajasthan summit’ in Jaipur’ the minister lauded the recent launch of Rajasthan Integrated Clean Energy Policy 2024, which aims to achieve 125 GW of Renewable Energy Capacity by 2030

Rajasthan self- reliant in power sector: He said, “Our Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has also Outline the vision of the state becoming power surplus”. On this occasion, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said that the picture of the state’s infrastructure is changing due to the efforts of our double engine government in sectors like roads, railway, airports, irrigation projects and energy. They said that highways and road transport play a key role in developing basic roads in the state.

They stated that in the near future, they will implement a comprehensive water management system to ensure reliable irrigation and uninterrupted electricity supply for farmers. Their commitment to making Rajasthan self- reliant in the electricity sector is unwavering.

Renewable Energy Policy: Rajasthan has issued a renewable energy policy in the year 2023 to promote renewable energy. Under this policy, a target has been set to set up 90gigawatt renewable energy project in the state by the year 2029-30. Of these 65gigawatt will be solar energy projects.

Key some point of this policy:

  • The objective of this policy is to smoothly incorporate renewable energy into the grid.
  • Under this policy, state discoms have been ordered to purchase renewable energy.
  • In this policy, new provision for combined generation of wind, solar energy.
  • Under this policy development of solar plants in joint venture with private developers will be.

Rajasthan Leads the Way Towards Green Energy in India:

The Prime Minister has set some goals, which are follows:

  • To achieve 500 GW of non-fossil energy capacity by 2030.
  • To meet 50% of India’s energy requirement from renewable energy sources by the year 2030.
  • Reduce carbon intensity of the economy by 45% from 2005 levels by 2030.
  • To reduce total projected carbon emission by 1 billion tonnes by the year 2030.
  • To achieve the goal of net- zero emission by the year 2070.
  • India aims to achieve its target of 5 MMT of Green Hydrogen production, which will need 125 GW of Renewable Energy, by 2030.
  • India is on spree to enhance the installation of Renewable Energy to 500 GW by 2030.

What are the goal of Rajasthan’s clean energy policy?

Rajasthan’s Integrated Clean Energy Policy 2024 aims to achieve 125 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.this includes installing 90,000 MW of solar power, 25,000 MW of wind and hybrid energy, and 10,000 MW of hydro, pumped storage and battery energy storage system.

How will Rajasthan’s clean energy target contribute to the national goal?

Rajasthan’s clean energy target will help India achieve its national goal of 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030.

What are some of Rajasthan’s strength in renewable energy?

Rajasthan’s has many strengths in renewable energy, including:

  • Solar parks: Rajasthan has a fully operational solar park in BHADLA, which is 5,700 hectares in size.
  • Energy clusters: Rajasthan has several hubs and clusters for solar and wind energy, including the BHADLA Solar Park Cluster, Jaisalmer Wind Energy Cluster and Barmer Solar and wind energy Cluster.
  • Government land: Rajasthan offers large tracts of governments land at competitive rates.
